Description
Italeri 1/48 AH-1T SeaCobra Attack Helicopter
This Italeri 1/48 scale plastic model kit recreates the AH-1T SeaCobra, an attack helicopter developed by Bell Helicopter for the operational requirements of the United States Marine Corps. Developed as a direct evolution of the AH-1J, the AH-1T incorporated changes to the fuselage and fuel tanks that increased endurance, operational range and time on station over the target area.
The completed model measures approximately 33.9 cm and comes with a new decal edition featuring a super decal sheet. Its 1/48 scale makes it a substantial helicopter subject for modellers interested in US Marine Corps aircraft and post-WWII military aviation.
US Marine Corps Attack Helicopter
The AH-1T was designed to provide effective operation during naval and amphibious missions. Its operational roles included close air support for ground forces, anti-tank warfare and armed reconnaissance.
The helicopter carries a two-person crew, with the pilot and weapons systems operator seated in tandem. This arrangement was designed to optimise visibility during combat and forms part of the distinctive configuration of the SeaCobra.
SeaCobra Armament
The AH-1T combined a 20 mm cannon with a commonly used armament configuration of TOW anti-tank missiles and unguided rockets. These features give the finished model the characteristic armed appearance associated with the SeaCobra’s close-support and anti-tank roles.
