ICM F-16AM Ukrainian Air Force with GBU-39 Bombs 1/72 Model Kit
The ICM F-16AM Ukrainian Air Force with GBU-39 Bombs (72146) is a 1/72 scale plastic model kit representing the F-16AM multirole fighter in Ukrainian service. This release focuses on the aircraft’s ground-attack role, with GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs and an AN/ALQ-131 electronic countermeasures pod included among the armament and equipment.
Ukraine received its first F-16 fighters in August 2024. By the winter of 2025, reports confirmed that Ukrainian F-16s were also conducting strikes against ground targets. The aircraft’s ability to carry precision-guided weapons, including the GBU-39, forms the basis of this particular ICM kit.
F-16AM Ground-Attack Configuration
The GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb entered service with the United States Air Force in 2006. Each bomb weighs approximately 110 kg and measures 1.8 metres long. Its folding wings deploy after release from the aircraft, allowing the weapon to travel towards its designated target.
The GBU-39 can be programmed during a mission, enabling the pilot to enter target coordinates and select the required fuze mode. Under favourable conditions, the weapon can reach targets at distances of up to 110 km.
Ukrainian F-16s can also carry the AN/ALQ-131 electronic countermeasures pod beneath the fuselage. This equipment is designed to detect hostile radar emissions and generate electronic interference to disrupt radar operation. ICM includes this pod alongside the GBU-39 bombs, allowing the model to represent an aircraft equipped for ground-attack operations.
