Description

Hasegawa 1/48 Arado Ar 234B-2/N Nachtigall Night Fighter

This Hasegawa 1/48 scale plastic model kit recreates the German Arado Ar 234B-2/N Nachtigall night fighter. This WWII aircraft release includes a resin Naxos radar, adding a distinctive feature to the model and making it an interesting subject for modellers building German night fighter aircraft.

The kit has an estimated 158 parts and produces a completed model measuring approximately 271.5 mm long with a wingspan of 300 mm. Two 1945 marking options are provided, covering aircraft associated with Lieutenant Kurt Bonov and Lieutenant Erich Sommer.

Resin Naxos Radar

A key feature of this Ar 234B-2/N release is the included resin Naxos radar. Combined with the Nachtigall night fighter configuration, this gives the model a clear identity within a collection of 1/48 aircraft and provides a particularly distinctive German WWII subject.

Two 1945 Marking Options

The first marking option represents aircraft “140146”, flown by Lieutenant Kurt Bonov, commander of Kommando Bonov. The aircraft is represented at Oranienburg Air Base in 1945, with a night camouflage option for Oranienburg Air Base in March 1945.

The second option represents Ar 234B-2 aircraft “140344:T9+EH”, associated with Lieutenant Erich Sommer, commander of Kommando Sommer, in Italy during April 1945.

Model Features

  • 1/48 scale Arado Ar 234B-2/N Nachtigall
  • German WWII night fighter subject
  • Resin Naxos radar included
  • Approximately 158 parts
  • Completed length approximately 271.5 mm
  • Completed wingspan approximately 300 mm
  • Kurt Bonov aircraft “140146” marking option
  • Erich Sommer aircraft “140344:T9+EH” marking option

The two marking choices give the modeller distinct finishing options from the closing months of WWII, including the night camouflage associated with Bonov’s aircraft at Oranienburg in March 1945 and Sommer’s B-2 aircraft in Italy in April 1945. Together with the included resin Naxos radar, these features give this 1/48 Ar 234B-2/N a strong night fighter focus.
