History

The Dodge WC series formed the backbone of US light military transport during WWII, covering a wide range of roles from troop carriers to ambulances and command vehicles. The WC-23 was one of the command and reconnaissance variants, intended for officers and liaison duties close to the front.

With its reliable four wheel drive system and relatively small size, the WC-23 could operate on poor roads and rough terrain where larger vehicles struggled. These vehicles served across Europe, North Africa and the Pacific, often adapted in the field with additional equipment depending on operational needs.

Although overshadowed by more famous vehicles like the Jeep, the WC-23 played an important supporting role in maintaining communication and coordination within US Army units throughout the war.
